We are very excited to begin Advanced Yoga Studies & Teacher Training here at Pure Synergy in 2018! Often we associate Teacher Training with, well, "Teacher Training!" But, it isn't just about preparing yoga instructors. Advanced Yoga Studies can help you delve deeper into your practice. To explain what we mean, we asked each of our yoga instructors about their Yoga Teacher Training experience and complied their answers here just for you! When I think about my advanced teacher training it was a little different for me than most people that go because I went into with the idea that I would be opening a yoga studio and to help me service my current clients. I have been on (and off) the mat since about 2000 and thought I knew what I needed to know about yoga. This advanced training proved I was no where close.

Yoga Advanced Studies and Teacher Training is so much more than teaching. It opens your heart and mind to more than you will ever think you are capable of.

YTT changed my life around and gifted me the opportunity to be the best version of myself daily. It was the single most challenging and healing growth experience I have ever gifted myself with. What I had practiced for 7 years in yoga classes became real and personal. It's not just for those who want to teach – it's for you to find your yoga practice and go on a true adventure into who you are, gaining endless knowledge and tools to deepen and be your most authentic self on and off your mat, for the rest of your life!

I have always wanted to be a teacher, and I graduated from college with a degree in special education. I taught children with special needs for 4 years, and I loved it. However, I was also depressed and my bipolar disorder was robbing me of any true joy. I was lost completely. I was eventually hospitalized, and that is where yoga found me. The first time I ever did yoga was a mindfulness meditation, and I cried during and after because it was the first time I had ever felt peace in my mind. I loved yoga, and it changed my life. I was able to address many of my issues, and since starting yoga I have overcome my eating disorder, addiction to alcohol, and I have found that joy that I never had before. I started teacher training because in my mind yoga + teaching made so much sense; two things I love. It was so much more. Teacher training changed my life, and I left the school setting to teach full time after graduating.

Teaching training meant shedding away old habits that didn't serve me and becoming my most authentic self. Through this transformative experience, I learned what it means to step into my power and how to be of service to others. I am so grateful for teacher training as it marked a pivotal point in my life for mental, physical, and spiritual growth.

I had been doing Yoga for 20 years and had been an Occupational Therapist for 5, and both practices were stale. The studio I attended class at from time to time offered Yoga teacher training, and I decided to sign up with my husband’s encouragement. I went hoping to gain knowledge I could use as a therapist, and I did. More importantly, I gained tools to help me through difficult times to come, lifelong friends, and a support system. Advanced training gave me knowledge and skills I continue to draw on even when I am not actively teaching Yoga. It  was a good way for me to learn more about myself, and taught me ways to navigate life that have helped me in every area.
