What do you think of when you hear the word yoga?
Handstands? The sound of Om? Extreme flexibility?
Well guess what? Yoga is so much more! My first yoga practice actually didn’t involve movement at all. It was just a mindfulness practice, and I realized after the hour long meditation that I felt better. I couldn’t really put my finger on it at the time, but something had changed in me. After years of practice I still can’t do a handstand, and I fall frequently...but I always leave my mat feeling better.
Yoga is for everyone. I am a believer that every person in this world can practice yoga. People of all ethnicities, faiths, genders, sexual orientation, and abilities can come to the mat and have an experience that is unique to them. YOga is different for each person; that’s one of the things I love about it! In my kids’ yoga classes I teach I always tell them, “Never say you can’t! All you have to do is try!” The same thing applies to us grown ups as well; all we have to do is try!
In our classes here at Pure Synergy our instructors get to know each student, and design the class and poses to fit that person. So come to class and leave everything else outside the door! Your practice is waiting for you!
